Abstract

Catalytic properties of ultrafine particles (UFP), composed of both iron and copper for liquid phase Fischer-Tropsch synthesis were investigated. Potassium-promoted iron—copper UFP which were prepared by the liquid phase reduction method showed very high catalytic activities and selectivities for liquid hydrocarbons even at a high temperature (300°C). Furthermore, amounts of deposited carbon on the potassium-promoted iron—copper UFP catalysts were considerably less than those on the potassium-promoted iron UFP catalysts. Similar results were also achieved over copper-promoted iron UFP catalysts which were obtained by chemical deposition of copper on iron UFP prepared by the gas evaporation method.
