Abstract
The main aim of this work is to develop the first liquid contact ion selective electrode potentiometric method for determination of flavoxate HCl main metabolite; 3-methylflavone-8-carboxylic acid (MFC). The method can be used for studying flavoxate HCl bioavailability through tracing its active metabolite; MFC, excreted in human urine. The metabolite was determined in pure powder and in human urine with establishment of urinary excretion pattern without any sample extraction or pretreatment procedures. The suggested sensor's performance was assessed in accordance with IUPAC guidelines. According to the Bioanalytical Method Validation Guidance for Industry, the suggested method was validated where good results were obtained. The proposed method is an excellent green eco-friendly analytical method.
