Abstract

Nearly quantitative conversion of linoleic acid to its hydroperoxide was achieved at room temperature (∼24°C) in microemulsions containing surfactant, water, and organic solvent, using air as the oxygen source, and lipoxygenase from soybeans as the catalyst, providing an excellent route to this strategic intermediate in the synthesis of important industrial products.
