Abstract

If the surgeon can understand the unique aesthetic and anatomic features of the Asian patient, he or she can embark on a successful surgical intervention in the Asian patient who seeks plastic surgery. The bony structure, soft-tissue distribution, and skin quality all differ radically from the Caucasian anatomy. The authors discuss the anatomy, histology, and physiology of the Asian and describe facial liposuction and fat transfer. They have found that facial liposuction and lipotransfer have proven to be reliable and consistent techniques for facial rejuvenation in the Asian patient.
