LIPOMA IN THE MENTAL REGION: CASE REPORT

Abstract

A 57-year-old male patient was referred with an asymptomatic swelling on the left-side lower labial mucosa for 3 years. He reported smoking 20 cigarettes per day for 17 years, with no other comorbidities. Clinical examination revealed a well-defined sessile nodule on the left side of the lower labial mucosa, with a soft consistency and a slightly yellowish color. Panoramic radiography showed no evidence of lesion. Diagnostic hypotheses included benign mesenchymal neoplasms and benign salivary gland neoplasms. Excisional biopsy of the lesion was performed, with histopathologic diagnosis of lipoma. After 6 months of follow-up the patient showed no signs of recurrence of the lesion.
