Abstract

AbstractIn this contribution we discuss the problem of a dislocation double pileup at impenetrable boundaries which serves as a benchmark test to examine the continuum dislocation dynamics (CDD). We enhance a formulation for a numerical implementation and the mean‐field theory to account for the ‘long‐range’ stress field due to inhomogeneous plastic deformations by a suitable correction term. This allows us to handle the motion of dislocation densities at impenetrable boundaries and study the influence of dislocation interactions on a scale much smaller than the scale of the proposed mean‐field stress.
