Abstract
The work engagement and performance of doctors in public hospitals in China not only directly affect the patients ' perception of service level and quality, but also represent the overall medical level and service quality in China. Based on the theory of Self-Determination Theory and Career Construction Theory, this paper constructs the hypothesis model of “Calling- Work Engagement-Occupational Identity†based on 403 effective samples of statistical analysis, which shows that there is a positive correlation between doctors’ calling and their work engagement, and occupational identity is a partial mediator between calling and work engagement. This study helps improve doctors’ work engagement and build a harmonious doctor-patient relationship by enhancing their calling and occupational identity.
