Abstract

The article considers the situation with native (state) languages in one of the regions of the Russian Federation, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, based on interdisciplinary approach. It presents the legislative foundations of the language policy implemented in the region and the results of sociological surveys, which reflect the attitudes and needs of the peoples of the republic for the preservation and study of native languages.
