Linfoma mediastínico en un felino: Reporte de caso

Abstract

Lymphoma is the most common hematopoietic neoplasm in cats, has aggressive behavior and multifactorial ethiology; however, retrovirus infections such as feline viral leukemia and feline immunodeficiency are one of the main predisposing factors. The most common clinical signs of the mediastinal form are dyspnea and pleural effusions. The diagnosis is made based on the history, clinical signs, physical examination, and imaging tests. The recommended treatment is multidrug therapy, the objective being the remission of clinical signs and quality of life for the patient. The objective of this study was to report the case of a one-year-old male feline diagnosed with mediastinal lymphoma, treated at the Clínica Escola Veterinária, who had severe dyspnea and pleural effusions. The treatment of choice was the COP protocol, which includes the drugs cyclophosphamide, vincristine and prednisone. The patient had a good response to chemotherapy, with remission of clinical signs and reduction of the intrathoracic mass, presenting himself in good general condition.
