Abstract

This paper is concerned with the generation of phase-delayed replicas of multilevel (p-nary) linear recurring m-sequences. The generation of cyclic linear m-sequences by means of feedback shift register is presented. Two methods are described to determine the p-nary n-stage shift register connections for obtaining the phase-delayed copies of the basic m-sequence. Of these, Method I is based on the phase-synchronization of the basic- and delayed m-sequences and subsequent operation of the shift register feedback logic function on a set of consecutive states of the register for the realization of the delay. Method II makes use of the concept of linear recurrence associated with the m-sequences. The methods are simple, and provide quick results as no involved computation is necessary.
