Abstract
This paper presents theoretical results for linear polarization of 2p–1s and 3d–2p line emission following single electron capture by a proton to excited levels above a W surface. The polarization degrees are evaluated for photons from H outgoing along surface normal with translation velocities of 0.44–2.2×106m/s (corresponding to 1–25keV kinetic energy of H). Negative polarization degrees are obtained for electric-dipole photons emitted at 90° to the surface normal due to preferential population in large m levels of each sub-shell.
