Abstract

A new technique to measure saccadic eye movement in any X-Y position is presented. This technique depends on principle of the distinguishable features of the eye where the iris is darker than the sclera. An array of optical transducers is facing the eye in such a way to receive the eye’s reflections of incident light. The array can be in several shapes as long as the linearity criteria are achieved. The horizontal movement of the eye ball is measured as the difference between right and left groups of transducers array. Similarly, the vertical movement is measured as the difference between the upper and the lower groups. The circuit is designed such that the final output has linear relationship between voltage and eyeball position. The proposed technique gives a simple, linear, easy to construct, fast response, low cost and very low power eyeball movement tracker.
