Abstract

A second-order standardized peak discharge distribution (SSPDD) procedure presented in a previous paper is applied to large drainage basins with areas ranging from 450 to 8910 mi. 2 (1166 to 23,077 km 2). Several snowmelt hydrographs appear to fit the presented distribution equally as well as rainfall hydrographs. Those hydrographs used in this study had runoff volumes as small as 0.001 in. (0.003 cm) uniformly distributed over the drainage basin. Like small drainage basins, large drainage basins also exhibit linear and nonlinear runoff characteristics.
