Abstract
This paper discusses how line tension was measured using the relaxation rate of bolas-shaped domains in a binary mixture of 30 mol % cholesterol and 70 mol % DMPC as a function of monolayer pressure. The line tension, varying from (1.6 +/- 0.4) x 10{sup -7} at 1 dyn/cm to 0 at critical pressures, is approximately a linear function of the difference between the applied and critical pressures. 18 refs., 5 figs.
