Abstract

The line shape of the intersubband optical absorption is calculated with the density-functional formulation in a cylindrical quantum well. The resonance energy shifts due to the excitonlike effect and the depolarization effect are considered. Dynamical electric conductivity in this system is found to be of the similar form obtained by Ando [Z. Phys. B 24, 33 (1976), and Phys. Rev. B 13, 3468 (1976)] in a surface space-charge layer.
