Abstract
Key Points The presence of a fever or weight loss suggests an infectious, oncologic, or inflammatory cause. An acute limp in the context of a fever with significant joint tenderness, refusal to bear weight, or limited range of motion should raise the suspicion of septic arthritis.Trauma is the most common cause of a limp.Chronic intermittent limping is more consistent with autoimmune causes, malignancy, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, Osgood-Schlatter disease, and transient synovitis.
