Abstract

Recent studies point out to some constraints in Decision Support Systems (DSS). The first is the difficulty in an intelligent interaction between the user and the DSS. The second limitation is that DSS should not restrict to follow the user-interaction paradigm - they should infer what their users are trying to do and learn from the observation. Another problem of DSS is the difficulty in dealing with group decision-making. This paper envisages the discussion of the limitations of current DSS. A new approach, Scalable Intelligence, is proposed. Scalable Intelligence claims that a DSS must be provided with the ability to increase its intelligence, walking from a very simple support tool to a really intelligent tool.
