Abstract

A Decision Support System (DSS) is an interactive computer-based system used to support decision makers in their decision making activities. Normally, it is easier and quicker to build such systems using DSS generators (software packages) with related hardware. This paper describes the design and implementation of an experimental microcomputer-based DSS generator REGIMES. The system design is conceptually an extension of Sprague's model for organising decision support capabilities. The system is one of the first examples of an integrated DSS generator software implemented in BASIC on a personal computer providing multiple user interfaces, graphics, data base management and modelling capabilities.
