Abstract

Phytochemical investigation of Daphne penicillata Rehd led to the isolation of twenty-eight compounds, including eighteen lignans (1–18), nine monoterpenes (19–21, 23–28) and one butanolide (22). According to spectroscopic data analysis and comparison with the previously reported literature, their structures were determined. All of these compounds were isolated from D. penicillata for the first time and eighteen compounds (1, 4, 6, 8, 14–27) were firstly reported from the family Thymelaeaceae. In addition, the study introduced the chemotaxonomic significance of these compounds from D. penicillata.
