Abstract

Phytochemical investigation of the twigs and leaves of Actinidia chinensis Planch led to the isolation and characterization of twenty natural products including one new triterpenoid 2α,3α,24-trihydroxyolean-12-en-23-al-28-oic acid (1), ten known triterpenoids (2–11), one known diterpenoid (12), three known flavonoids (13–15), two known phenylpropanoids (16–17) and three prenylated phenolic derivatives (18–20). Their structures were identified by spectroscopic analyses and comparison of data with those reported in the literature. Among them, compounds 1, 4–5, 8, and 11–20 were reported from the genus Actinidia for the first time and compounds 1, 11–12 and 17 can serve as biomarkers for the genus of A. chinensis Planch. The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolates was also summarized.
