Abstract

The FDTD modeling approach is applied to study theimplementation of the optical immersion technique for thevisualization of single and multiple gold nanoparticles inbiological cells. To the best knowledge of authors, this is thefirst research study discussing the gold nanoparticle effects onthe forward scattered light from biological cells at refractiveindex matching conditions. The applicability and the potential ofthe FDTD approach for studying gold nanoparticles enhancedbio-imaging at optical immersion is demonstrated.
