Abstract
Submersible pumps are popular for many reasons, such as the fact that there is no need for a pump house or similar protection, and the noise of operation doesn't impact greatly on the surroundings. The submersible pump has a mechanical seal that protects the dry motor from the ingress of water. The characteristics of the seal are therefore important factors when we consider the durability and reliability of the submersible pump itself.
