Abstract

The half-lives of the 2+ and 4+ states of 68 168 Er nucleus have been determined by means of the delayed coincidence method, using a magnetic double lens coincidence spectrometer and a start-stop time-to-pulse height converter coupled to a fast-slow coincidence system. The half-lives of these levels were measured to be $$\begin{gathered} T_{1/2} (2^ + \to 0^ + ) = 1.72 \pm 0.06 ns, \hfill \\ T_{1/2} (4^ + \to 2^ + ) = 106 \pm 6 ps. \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ , The experimental ratios ofB(E 2,4+→2+)/B(E 2,2+→0+) and some of the nuclear parameters are deduced and discussed.
