Abstract
In Wireless sensor network shortest & minimum energy path is always preferred while reporting the sensed data to destination. So nodes in this route are frequently used causing its battery to drain out soon as sensor nodes have limited battery power. There is more battery consumption of the sensor nodes which are near the sink than others resulting into drainage of their batteries & hence reduction in the life time of the WSN. Employing the mobile sink can eliminate the problem of early drainage of the battery of node near the sink. Thus energy efficient data gathering can be achieved by making the sink mobile in WSN. If the sink acts as a vehicle and collects the data from the sensors life span of the node & hence of the network can be increased. In this paper we propose to design an energy efficient routing protocol for mobile sink for data gathering in WSN. Information related to residual battery energy of sensor nodes is used to adjust the transmission range of sensor nodes & the sink is relocated along the moving destination. Proposed algorithm reduces the signal overhead and improves the problem caused by triangular routing. By doing simulation & from results we evaluated the performance of our scheme with the existing method for data gathering in WSN. Considering the different scenarios for the WSN our scheme is proven to increase the life time of network compared to the existing method.
