Abstract

Abstract: Life cycles of five eriophyid mite species developing in galls on the leaves of trees and shrubs were studied, viz. Eriophyes liosoma on Tilia cordata, Phytoptus tiliae and Aceria exilis on Tilia platyphyllos, Artacris macrorhynchus on Acer campestre and Epitrimerus trilobus on Sambucus nigra. Only one generation of eriophyid mites develop inside galls on the leaves of their host plants during one year in Middle Europe. In autumn eriophyid mites move from leaves into the leaf buds where they hibernate till spring of the following year. The morphology and anatomy of Eriophyes fraxinivorus is given.
