Abstract
ABSTRACT Urban agriculture, the production of food within city limits, stands as a potential alternative for establishing a new and resilient food system. It is expected to address global challenges such as climate change, urban vulnerability, and food security. While numerous studies exist in this field, a comprehensive scientific understanding coupled with a connection to sustainable development is crucially needed. Therefore, this review focuses on the present state and the methodology of life cycle assessment to evaluate the sustainability of urban agriculture. The case studies reviewed are mostly incomplete and lack diversity. Further research is needed, especially the integration of social and economic perspectives.
