Abstract

Part of the collections of the Department of Old Czech History (The Historical Museum of the National Museum) is formed by objects preserved for future generations by Libuše Bráfová, daughter of the politician František Ladislav Rieger and the granddaughter of the historian František Palacký. Libuše Bráfová played a dominant role in preserving the family legacy and creating the ‘František Palacký and František Ladislav Rieger Memorial’ exhibition, where several hundred exhibits connected with this important Czech family are displayed. A large number of collection items and archival materials from the family estate still remain hidden in depositories. The presented paper focuses not only on this remarkable woman of many talents and activities, and her family background, but especially on the analysis of circumstances of the creation of the collection of personal and home textiles and clothing accessories originally belonging to individual members of the Palacký, Rieger and Bráf families.
