Apres la recente instauration en Belgique d'un coefficient de reserve monetaire et sa mise en application au mois d'aout dernier, il peut etre interessant de se pencher sur l'experience americaine, dont s'inspire d'ailleurs directement le reglement de la Commission bancaire du 21 decembre 1961, pour analyser le fonctionnement de l'institution, sa portee, son efficacite, ses limites.
