Abstract
The practice of selling passports through Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programmes is an under-studied yet rapidly developing area. It is gaining more attraction and legitimacy in the light of increasingly stricter compliance policies. 1 The governments running the CBI can potentially be affected by corporate and immigration due diligence processes. Therefore, it is timely to consider AI in CBI programmes. This chapter explains how AI could potentially transform risk management in CBI programmes through the automation of specific due diligence processes already proven in the corporate and immigration compliance industry. In particular, it explores the matter of due diligence as a means of corporate and immigration risk mitigation. The chapter also explores the challenges of the adoption of AI into CBI, and provides recommendations for the effective introduction of AI into CBI programmes.
