M. Abstract The transition probabilities for transitions between the 1s22s22p2 and 1s22s2p3 configurations of carbon-like ions have been calculated using configuration interaction wave functions in the CIV3 program. Using these values together with the experimental threshold energies and earlier reported R-matrix data for the effective collision strengths, populations of the lowest 15 excited levels of the carbon-like ions are calculated. The results are tabulated at a series of electron temperatures and densities for Ne V, Mg VII, and Si IX.
