Abstract

The pole positions and mixing parameters of the 2 + isospin-mixed doublet in 8Be near 16.6 and 16.9 MeV excitation are obtained from an energy-dependent fit to the l = 2 phase shift for elastic α-α scattering. Lower energies are also studied and the pole position of the l = 2 state near 3 MeV excitation is also determined. No evidence for a broad level near 6–10 MeV is found.
