Abstract

Due to fast developments in industry and technology, decision-making process has become difficult. Production decision being one of the main decisions taken by businesses is also quite important for businesses. Operation research providing a scientific approach to decision-making problems could be used in production planning activities as well as in many other decision-based problems. In this study, finding solutions with a scientific approach to decision-making problems of businesses was examined. Specified decision-making-based problem was explained mathematically and a linear model was developed. Production planning which determines the production activities of the businesses was chosen as a decision-making-based problem. In this study, it is targeted to examplify the usage of operation research in production planning activities. With this purpose, a production plan was developed with the help of linear programming in the Furan Line in ERKUNT A.S(Inc.) Casting 1 Factory. After explaining the problem linearly, LINGO software was used to solve it. By observing the situation and gathering necessary data, material of the study was obtained. Since maximum profit was targeted, the problem was defined as a linear programming problem and solved with a software. In the last chapter, conclusion and recommendation, it was explained that what kind of production activity should be followed in order to make the biggest profit according to LINGO.
