Abstract

Gérard Garouste was born in 1946. He is considered one of the greatest French painters today. He is also a sculptor and scenographer. He painted over 600 paintings. He exhibited in the biggest galleries, the biggest museums in the world. From the publication of his autobiography L’Intranquille, Gérard Garouste publicly reveals the weight of his family history and his psychiatric problems, in particular his delusional attacks and his behavioral disorders for which he was treated in a psychiatric hospital. His painting is figurative, fantastic, enigmatic has an autobiographical dimension that he claims.
