Abstract

This paper brings up to date information on the palearctic migrants wintering in the Republic of Senegal given in a preceding article (La Terre et la Vie, 20, 1966 : 19-72, 143-176). Besides regular observations made in the Northern and Western parts of the country, field trips were made in the Southern and the Eastern districts, so far poorly explored by ornithologists. Further data on dates of arrival and departure, and of population size, are given for 97 species. Since 1966, the list of palear-tic migrants has been increased by 22 species. Within the political boundaries of the republics of Senegal and Gambia, a grand total of 170 species of paleartic migrants has so far been recorded.
