Abstract
In books I & II, Denys supplies information on the religious organisation in Rome, the priestly orders and certain festivals (Consulia and Lupercalia). Relying on texts from Varro he examines in Romulus's and Numa's achievements aspects for which he can find Greek counterparts, while accurately noting originals elements as well. He does all this with the clear concern to make himself understood by his Greek readers and emphasize Rome's hellenism.
