Abstract

In 1976, an important palaeolithic site with an abundant lithic industry, fauna and a human skull was discovered at Biache- Saint-Vaast (North of France). The excavations have already covered several hundred m and have permitted the discovery of several archaeological levels in the upper part of a river terrace of the Scarpe valley. The rich industry includes especially numerous levallois flakes, varied side-scrappers and denticulates.
