Abstract
Abstract Presents stratigraphic details and (in the second note) describes calcispheres of the Daviesiella llangollensis-bearing limestones of the Avesnes limestone band (Carboniferous), as exposed in the Baldaquin quarry, Avesnes region, France. These stratified limestones overlie massive Productus sublaevis-bearing limestone, are gray or blue, fine-grained, and are characterized by a relatively compact zoned or concretionary texture. The zoning and concretions are clearly of organic (algal) origin. Dolomitization has obliterated the texture at several horizons, but an occasional visible nodule suggests that these layers are also, at least in part, of organic origin.
