Abstract

The recent pandemic scenario, resulting from infection caused by the new coronavirus, means it is essential to produce knowledge in understanding the disease and its impacts on people's daily lives. Based on this demand, this study aimed to contribute to the production of knowledge about free time and leisure as understood by Brazilians in social isolation. For this purpose, a national survey was carried out, using a multi-method approach, which included a non-probabilistic sample: 2200 Brazilians, who answered an online questionnaire, whose data was analysed using descriptive statistics in the SPSS software and text was analysed by IRaMuTeQ. The results were organized into three classes of evoked words about temporal perception in isolation: Blurred time; Work and obligations; and Life in reflection. Such categories lead us to infer about leisure and free time of Brazilians during social isolation, given the hyperproductivity in the home office and subjective recreations called for.
