Abstract
Leiomyoma is a benign tumor derived from smooth muscle. The following three types of superficial leiomyoma are recognized: (1) single or multiple lesions of leiomyoma derived from the arrectores pilorum muscles, (2) leiomyoma derived from the muscularis of blood vessels (vascular leiomyoma), and (3) leiomyoma (usually solitary) derived from the smooth muscle of the nipple or scrotum.1 Scrotal leiomyomas are rare. In 1937, Stout1 found only five cases recorded in the world literature. In 1964, Grace2 reported two cases from the literature and added an eighth case report. Siegal and Gaffey3 reported ten cases between 1905 and 1975 from the records of the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. Another case was recorded in 1977 by Iloreta and associates,4 and an additional case of leiomyoma of the scrotum is reported herein.
