Abstract

This paper explores major barriers that obstruct smooth development of women entrepreneurs in Uganda. The study provides some useful academic insights and offers some practical suggestions toward improving policy women entrepreneurs. The value added of this research lies in providing significant insights related to the initiation of policies and programmes for entrepreneurship development, but also in increasing women involvement in entrepreneurship through a better understanding of the gender-based barriers to enterprise management. It is hoped that the study will not only influence entrepreneurship and business development in Uganda but also open windows for other prospective researchers to study problems unique to women business owners in different dimensions and countries in ways that affect entrepreneurship and economic growth.
