Abstract

The municipal Archive of Toledo keeps, among its valuable collection, a manuscript titled the Libro de los Juramentos de Toledo. Its external form is consistent with the importance of its con-tents, and our analysis has revealed two different moment in its elaboration process. Upon this diplo-matic codex, the government, both kings and members of the city council, had to take the oath to respect the privileges and rights of this Imperial city. Besides the oath formula, its authors included other legislative texts, all related to municipal law, some of them from the city of Seville.
