Abstract
The quality of life of teenagers with severe learning disabilities depends a great deal on service help. School‐leaving is a time when crucial decisions have to be taken. Five recent surveys undertaken in different parts of the country show a relatively consistent pattern of satisfaction with educational provision, mixed views about health care, concern about the availability and quality of day care, and little interest in moving into a permanent residential place. Specialist services were praised, but there was little evidence of faith in the quality of future expanded social service provision.
