Abstract
ABSTRACT This paper presents the application of least absolute value based on linear programming for measurement of the steady state frequency drift of power systems from a distorted bus voltage signal. Different models are developed in this paper, depending on the number of harmonics in the bus voltage signal, and also the number of terms truncated from Taylor series expansion. The proposed technique uses the digitized samples of the bus voltage at the relay location. In this paper, we assume that the frequency is constant during the data window size. Effects of sampling frequency, data window size and number of harmonics chosen for modelling the voltage signal on the estimate are also investigated.
