Abstract

Most of the criticisms voiced by both students and professors in the field of music education are aimed at the lack of relevance in music education courses, especially methods courses. From every corner of the academic community, from a vast number of dissatisfied students, and from virtually every graduate of a traditional music education curriculum comes the complaint that prescribed courses do not equip a music educator to perform in a manner that is self-fulfilling.
