Abstract

ABSTRACT This reflection on the church during the recent lockdown and pandemic begins and ends in the incarnaton and the actual presence among us of Jesus Christ. We are called to engage with the theological task of interpreting God’s work in both the pandemic and in the healing ministry of the church. That is also a caring ministry which entails risk and an awareness of the basic human need for contact at the physical level. Such actual presence is also at the heart of the church’s sacramental and worshipping life in baptism and eucharist as they take place within the sacred spaces of church buildings set in the midst of the community.
