Abstract
Learning Analytics provides researchers with the opportunity to evaluate, monitor, and compare institutions, learners, and instructors, as well as online learning environments such as MOOCs. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are a trendy and creative way to deliver educational content to a large audience. Because of being free and publicly available, MOOCs attracted many heterogeneous learners who vary in education, gender, and age rates. However, there are pressing demands to change the courses’ standards and monitor the high dropout ratio and the lack of interaction. Those issues can be handled with the aid of Learning Analytics. This chapter addresses the major challenges of integrating Learning Analytics in learning environments within MOOCs and examining their potential benefits and limitations.
