Abstract

Both leaders and culture have an important influence on employees’ experiences within organizations as well as performance. Because leaders are presumed to have an important impact on organizational culture, this presenter symposium sheds light on the relationship between leaders, leadership and organizational culture. The four presentations are based on research that addresses (1) The effects of CEO leadership on culture and senior executives’ work engagement; (2) How leaders’ interpersonal style and power influences organizational culture; (3) the relationship between leadership (e.g., task-oriented, relationship-oriented, and collective leadership) and culture and (4) CEO succession and related cultural dynamics. The respective results and their implications for organization leadership, organization life and organization change will be further explored in the facilitated discussion.
