Abstract
The tourism, a means of protection and transmission of the Kanak culture? At the beginning of the 21 century, the Kanak culture is threatened. Some of its constituents are dying, because they are more and more uncommon or abandoned. The ADCK (Agency for the development of the Kanak culture) has for main missions to counter this loss of knowledge and know-how. However, it has difficulty in transmit- ting these last ones. The tourism, through diverse expressions, constitutes an indispen- sable help to the project of the ADCK. He can be a double remedy, by favouring the visibility and the valuation of the characteristic elements of the Melanesian culture of the first people of New Caledonia, and by contributing to allow their transmission, and to maintain the populations on the lands of their ancestors.
