Abstract

Women victims of violence between family refusal and lack of social support: a study in Italy and Algeria - The aim of the research is to explore the social support for women victims of violence and their paths for seeking help in two countries: Italy and Algeria. Italian study: Participants, women who asked for help to an anti-violence center and a comparable group. Instrument: Questionnaire on Social Networks, Social Support Scale and Self-Esteem Scale. Algerian study: qualitative research with a case study on an incest victim. Results: in Italy the primary network seems to be relevant for both groups, but some difficulties in approaching service network are highlighted. In Algeria the lack of both primary and secondary social network for violence victims and their exclusion from the community appears.
