Le culte catholique en terre d'Islam l'exemple des îles Comores

Abstract

The three independent Comoro Islands where Mayotte remained French are ground of Islam. Thus, almost all the population of Mayotte preserved the personal statute which is precisely a civil statute of Moslem right in Mayotte. At the same time religious code and legal code, Coran structure the political and social life in the independent Comoros, and according to the Constitution of the Union of the Comoros, the Comorian people solemnly affirms its will " to draw from Islam the permanent inspiration of the principles and rules which govern the Union ". Each year, the general council of Mayotte subsidizes the pilgrimage in Mecque and the cadis (judge of Moslem right) which ensure a mission of public utility (Moslem justice) are remunerated by the departmental community of Mayotte. In the Comoros, the catholic mission is primarily devoted to humanitarian works.
